In order to protect the entire group of children at school, we ask that parents assist us by keeping sick children at home if they experience ANY of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours:

  • A fever over 100 F (37.8 C) orally or 99 F (37.2 C) auxiliary (under the arm)
  • Signs of a newly developing cold or severe coughing
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or an upset stomach
  • Unusual or unexplained loss of appetite, fatigue, irritability, or headache
  • Discharge from the eye

 

REASONS YOUR CHILD WILL BE SENT HOME

 If your child displays any of the above listed symptoms and/or the following:

  • Headaches that impede them from learning
  • Red/pink eye- the child must be seen by a health care provider and a note from the provider must be brought to the nurse office prior to return to class
  • Nasal drainage that is yellow or green
  • Unexplained chest pain or breathing problems
  • Ear pain that is impeding the learning process
  • Lethargy, constantly putting their head down or falling asleep
  • Lice- the child must be treated and reexamined by the school nurse prior to returning to class
  • Injury that is accompanied by moderate to severe pain

 

WHEN YOUR CHILD CAN RETURN TO SCHOOL

  • When your child is well enough to partake in the learning process
  • 24 hours after taking antibiotics for a communicable disease (Strep Throat, Bacterial Conjunctivitis etc.)
  • Pertussis must have 5 days of treatment prior to returning
